They aren’t all bad [cough, cough]…
There’s one time we’ll encourage right-of-way (ROW) signs – after the election.
Let us explain.
Signs are what they are – one way to increase your name ID with a large group of voters. They’re there, and that’s about it. Right?
Wrong – Stephanie had a great experience with a different take on ROW signs. The Thank You sign…
What
- Order bumper stickers with THANK YOU on it, big enough to be seen on your yard sign in a contrasting color scheme.
- Choose 1-2 ROW sign locations for each major intersection in your district.
- Place the THANK YOU bumper stickers at angles across the number of signs you’ve reserved for ROW. Don’t forget to bring them to the watch party election night.
How
When your night ends well (in a hard-earned victory), BEFORE you go home (use the energy from the win), place the ROW signs. Depending on the size of the district, this is also a fun project to delegate to a volunteer to help.
Why
If signs spread your name to a lot of people, these simple stickers are a great way to thank a lot of people! The feedback is always great on these signs. Voters aren’t accustomed to being thanked for their vote, let alone by a candidate. Let’s change that habit and improve the perception!
Upsize It
Candidates – did you buy a billboard? Work with the company to add a “Thank You” banner to it following the election:
Giving credit where credit is due.
Shout out to longtime Shawnee resident, City Councilwoman, and State Representative Lisa Benlon. Most of the campaign-related tips on VoteSharp were things she taught Stephanie over the years, and this one is certainly hers!
Happy serving with gratitude,
