“It’s not my job” is so 2000 & late.
This week’s Serve60Sharp concept is the non-politico corollary to the “Sign o’ the Times” tip, and should be common sense.
Pick up after yourself. If each of us picked up after ourselves, no one would have to do extra work.
The service part of this concept takes it one step farther – when you see something that needs picked up, do it.
Use a tissue to grab litter that might be yucky – most of the time, trash cans and hand sanitizer dispensers are nearby. You touch someone’s trash for a few seconds, but make a forever impact on that patch of grass or sidewalk.
No, it’s not yours, and no, it’s likely not your job, but think of how many people you can serve!
- How many hundreds of people won’t see that trash and be annoyed?
- How much more time will Public Works and other organizations which keep our communities clean have to do even more impactful work?
- The lawnmowers that don’t get hit in the head with flying litter shrapnel are thankful!
- If only the grass and dirt could talk – it would thank you!
Happy serving,
