A-Z Engage: D = Deliver

The Knock That Changes Everything

“I thought I was delivering lunch. Turns out I was delivering Tuesday.”

For some seniors receiving meals through your County’s Aging and Human Services program, that knock at the door is the only face-to-face human contact they’ll have all day.

Let that sit for a second.

We talk a lot about loneliness as a public health crisis. And it is. But we don’t talk as much about how close the solution can be – a few hours, a reliable car, a warm greeting on a doorstep.

Volunteers with the Home-Delivered Meals program don’t just fight hunger. They fight isolation. And honestly? They’ll tell you they receive more than they give.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign that your time could matter to someone — this is it.

What’s one afternoon a month worth to you?
